So this is Samsung’s new One UI 8.5.
And the best part? You don’t need a new phone to experience it.

I’m currently using the Galaxy S26 Ultra for review.
This is One UI 8.5 stable version.
Not beta — real experience.
Let’s start from the lock screen.
Lock Screen Updates:
• Weather effects added 🌧️☀️
• More animations based on conditions
• Better one-hand usability
Control Center & Notifications:
• More customization options
• Separate brightness & volume sliders
• New animations (smooth transitions)
Small but cool change:
Notifications now have a magnetic swipe effect.
Screen Recording Upgrade:
• New layout
• Partial screen recording option
Dialer & Notifications:
• Important calls shown separately
• Smarter notification priority
Finder Search on Home Screen:
• Search contacts, apps, files, settings
• All-in-one search tool
Calculator Improvements:
• Cleaner UI
• Auto-detect copied numbers for quick calculation
UI Visual Changes:
• Icons now have depth/shadow effect
• More minimal & cleaner look
App Drawer & Search:
• Vertical scrolling
• Capsule-shaped search bar
Gallery Updates:
• Cleaner full-screen view
• Edit history feature added
• New Private Album (with lock 🔒)
Photo Editing AI:
• Remove shadows
• Remove reflections
• Better AI tools
Small but nice change:
Favorite (❤️) button now has animation.
Settings Page:
• More minimal layout
• Easier navigation
Change:
Battery percentage now always ON (no toggle)
Audio Recorder:
• New waveform design
• Voice-reactive glow effect
Clock App:
• New UI
• Time zone converter added
Dialer UI:
• Cleaner design
• Better layout & animations
Calendar:
• Slight visual tweaks
• More transparent UI
Galaxy AI Features:
• Smart suggestions (calendar-based)
• Audio eraser (reduce background noise)
• AI image editing with prompts
Bixby Update:
• Now integrated with Perplexity AI
• But still… most people use Google/Gemini
Now Bar (Dynamic feature):
• Torch control added
• Shows live activities
What’s Missing? 🤔
• No internet speed indicator
• No app lock feature
• Limited third-party app support (Zomato, Uber etc.)
• Now Bar could be more useful
• AOD (Always On Display) can be improved
Final Thoughts:
One UI 8.5 is more refined, minimal, and smoother.
Not a big upgrade — but lots of small useful changes.
Good news:
Most features will come to older flagship Samsung phones via update.
